State of the Union, Sputnik, and the first stages of Walking

Benjamin's new toy. You may see a hand every once in while intervene to slow the pace of forward progress... we tend to let gravity steal the show.

You ought to see Benjamin on the drums!!!

Hard to see... but he's standing unassisted for 3, maybe 4 seconds. I think he's just as excited as Dad is...

Dad and his boy, watching the President's State of the Union Address (Don't worry - we taped it and watched it the next day; 9:00pm is way past Benjamin's and Daddy's bedtime)

OUTTAKE # 1: "I'm the pig, can we stop?" - Followed by a tremendous crash!!! Let's try this again. The best part.... he does, gets back up and tries again.

Benjamin Tuff!

The funny part is, the helmet almost fits.... "Now starting at Defensive Tackle for the Naval Academy Midshipmen.... Muffin Face, angel pie?..." need to work on the nicknames, but we're getting there:

1 Tooth (pronounced "TOOF")

We have no pictures of Benjamin's tooth, because it's simply too hard to take a closeup picture of an 8-month-old baby's gums... It's hard to see with the naked eye even, but when you run your finger along his gums, you can feel, ever so slightly, the sharp serrated edge of his very first TOOTH!!!! More to follow....

The Adams Family Cough

Not the first cold Benjamin has had, but the first trip to the emergency room.

Disclaimer: After an attempt to schedule an appointment with the pediatric doctor, and no availabilities, we were told we could go to the Emergency Room at the Newport Hospital - and rather than wake up at midnight and wonder if Benjamin's cough was something to worry about, we took him to the Emergency Room. We'd like to think of it more along the lines of a spontaneous check-up.

The good news is Benjamin, Mom, and even Dad check out A-OK!!! Just a little cough, runny nose, and mild fever... but other than that, Benjamin reassures "Ma-ma" in the Emergency Room... "Here Mom, give me a hug - it'll be okay"

1-Day later, the kid looks fine!!! We're starting to wave (although it's hard to tell from this video).

SNOW DAY!!!! and still snowing

SNOW DAY!!!! Benjamin got his second taste of snow. Only this time, it was time to SLED!!!!

Getting dressed, under duress.

SLEDDING!!!! "Da-da" horsey pulls "Ma-ma" and Baby horsey in the sled over the river and through the woods to Uncle Jason's house.
Does it get any better than this?

Last week Benjamin had a play date with his friend Sara:

A new game we play, called pull myself up on the coffee table, and then pull everything down off the coffee table. I am envisioning a room... with nothing in it. Or as a friend of ours said at church today, "Live and let learn". The coffee table stays.

I found these just plain entertaining (You may hear the occasional "Da-da", and may see a patented Benjamin dance [all the craze in London]):

The other game we play: Steal Da-da's cell phone.
